Wheel Loaders And Their Types

Today, I want to talk something about wheel loader, which topic I have never discussed before. Although the wheel loader is relatively new to the construction industry, it is used more and more in construction projects. And the wheel loader becomes so versatile that it is playing a necessarily role in today’s construction industry. So today I am very glad to tell you something about it, which I think can greatly enrich your knowledge about construction industry.

What wheel loaders are

Wheel loaders are equipments which are used in the construction project to pick up materials and waste and transfer to another type of machinery. They are generally like tractors which have a bucket connected to the arms which are used to loosen the materials before picking them up for transportation

Wheel loaders, as opposed to track loaders, have sturdy tires equipped with large, rugged tread that allows for optimum maneuverability.

Wheel loaders have an advantage over track loaders, because wheel loaders are easier on paved roads and other sensitive environments. Track loaders are more suited to tasks that involve digging, because wheel loaders are unable to dig much below the tires without getting stuck. When a task involves transport or shallow excavation, wheel loaders are less destructive and therefore more efficient in the long term.

Types of wheel loaders and their applications

According to their sizes and shapes, wheel loaders can be defined as mini, small, large and super wheel loaders; skid steers; front-end loaders and backhoe loaders are the most common types of wheel loaders.

The front-end loader is used to pick up and move large quantities of dirt, sand and other materials quickly and efficiently from one location to another. The most common use of a front-end loader is to move materials off the ground into a container at a higher level of elevation, such as a truck. The bucket on the front can be either removable or a permanent fixture. Although the loaders with a removable system cost slightly more, they are very useful, as there are a wide range of accessories that can be attached to the front-end loader. Options include lift forks, bale grappler, snow plow or a clamshell bucket.

A backhoe loader is a piece of heavy construction equipment which actually marries two separate devices: a backhoe and a loader. Many contracting companies use backhoe loaders because they are powerful, efficient, fairly compact, and easier to maintain than two separate devices. Some consumers may be familiar with the sight of a backhoe loader, since the machines are frequently used for roadwork and major construction projects. Several companies dominate the market for backhoe loaders, including Case, Volvo, Caterpillar, and John Deere.
